Day 1
Overnight flight to Sri Lanka.
Day 2
This morning / afternoon you will arrive into Colombo, where you will be met by your private chauffeur guide and vehicle. Negombo is a quick 20 minute transfer from the airport and is ideal for a first night stay. A small fishing town, with Dutch canals, local eateries and traditional fish markets, it's great to explore.
Day 3
Today you will head up to the Cultural Triangle, the perfect base for sightseeing. This afternoon you will have a safari in Minneriya National Park, to see the annual wonder of the Elephant Gathering, where hundreds of elephants head to the watering holes in Minneriya and the neighbouring parks during dry season (June to September).
Day 4
Today you will climb the magnificent Sigiriya Rock; this spectacular UNESCO World Heritage site offers staggering views and ruins of an ancient palace at the top. Afterwards you will head to the Golden Temple of Dambulla, which is undoubtedly Sri Lanka's largest and best preserved cave temple.
Day 5
Today you will head east to your beach stay. We recommend Trincomalee/Nilaveli (2-2.5hrs transfer) or Pasikudah (3 hrs transfer), visiting the UNESCO Polonnaurwa ancient city ruins site en-route (which will make your journey a little longer). Spend the remainder of your day relaxing on the beach.
Day 6 - 8
Enjoy these days at leisure. Trincomalee has a natural harbour, interesting town centre to explore, whale and dolphin watching boat trips, snorkelling and diving trips at Pigeon Island. Pasikudah is a more chilled option, with its unspoilt golden sandy beaches, water sports and relaxed vibe.
Day 9
Today you will enjoy a leisurely drive in land to Kandy, a journey that will take around 5hrs. This evening visit the famous Temple of the Tooth during a traditional puja ceremony.
Day 10
Today you will enjoy visiting the Royal Botanical Gardens and our Kandy City Tour. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 11
This morning you'll take a scenic train journey through the hills, up into the high Tea Country, where you'll be surrounded by beautiful greenery and tea plantations. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy your new surroundings.
Day 12
Today we suggest a mixture of sightseeing and walks, depending on your location. There are some incredible hikes like Horton Plains trek to World's End, Adam's Peak in Hatton, and Ella Rock. Your chauffeur guide will take you for a short tour around Nuwara Eliya or Ella so you can get your bearings, and there'll be a quick visit to a traditional tea factory.
Day 13
Your chauffeur guide will bring you back to Colombo today where you will have a short city tour, then spend your final evening relaxing.
Day 14
Today you will be taken to the airport for your flight home after a wonderful journey through Sri Lanka!

This trip is designed for those wanting to travel between March and September in Sri Lanka. During this time the weather is great in the north and east of Sri Lanka; the west and southern coast can be wet between May and September so we’ve simply avoided them. The trip is wonderfully authentic and allows you to explore some of Sri Lanka’s beautiful untouched east coast beaches! Whale & dolphin watching, diving and snorkelling are also possible during this season, which is a treat.

The trip takes in some of the ancient cities, such as Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There’s some time in the middle to relax on the east coast, an undeveloped stretch of coastline with pristine white sands. After a stop on the beach the trip heads in-land and up to Kandy, a city in the hills surrounded by beautiful verdant greenery. This is where you’ll find the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Take a scenic train journey further up into Tea Country, staying in Hatton, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Bandarawela, Haputale or Koslanda, where the landscape is simply picture perfect. The trip ends in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s contemporary capital city, with lots of wonderful street food and markets. We feel this trip is excellent for couples and families wishing to get away during the UK spring and summer.

1 night Negombo – 2 nights Sigiriya – 4 nights Trincomalee/Pasikudah East Coast Beach – 2 nights Kandy – 2 nights Tea Country – 1 night Colombo
