Bundala National Park is unknown to most visitors, but it’s regarded as Sri Lanka’s foremost destination for bird watching. The 62 sq. km park is an internationally important wintering ground for migratory water birds, attracting hundreds of species year round. It’s a beautiful labyrinth of lagoons, waterways, and dunes providing the ideal sanctuary for water birds as well as other animals. Our 4×4 jeep safari takes you into the park with an experienced driver and tracker to go in search of birds such as the greater flamingo, peacock, Eurasian spoonbill, and the incredible painted stork. Both elephant and leopard can also be found in the park, however sightings are rare.
